Favorite Things…

slNow that I have no job and very little money, freebies that help me develop my graphic design skills have become more precious than gold. One of my favorite sites to visit daily is Smashing Magazine. They have great tutorials, downloads and free fonts each week. Here are some of my favorites:

Speaking of Typography, anyone lucky enough to be at SxSW and catch Gary Hustwit’s new film, Objectified? I loved Helvetica and can’t wait for them to announce the Portland screening date. Here’s a link to the movie site to see when a screening is coming to a town near you.

For the insomniacs & Twilight fans just home from Borders

fnlI doubt anyone else is up at this hour to read my blog so welcome.

A show that I had totally dropped last season but is now back on my Must Watch list is Friday Night Lights. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it gets renewed for next season

What show had you given up on that sucked you back in?

One more Wire alum…last one I swear.

cutty1Ok you probably all know this already but I just flipped the channels and Chad L. Coleman(aka: Dennis “Cutty” Wise) is on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and for you fellow BG geeks…Stephanie Jacobsen(aka Kendra Shaw) is in it too! It’s almost too much to take! So say we all! Ok…I’m done.

Check out this pretty cool Q & A that took place at the Bagdad Theater in Portland, Oregon with Katie Sackoff and my favorite radio duo Cort & Fatboy here.

Speaking of The Wire…

elbaDid anyone watch last night’s The Office with Idris Elba(aka Stringer Bell)? He looked pretty much the same as he did on The Wire with his business suit, glasses and briefcase. I kept waiting for him to bitch slap Michael Scott though. Would have made the show a little more watchable for me.

I just haven’t been able to get into The Office this season. Maybe getting the chance to stare at Stringer Bell/Charles Minor for a half hour every week will change all that.

Watch the episode here at the internet’s gift to the unemployed and broke…Hulu.

Click here to be blown away by Idris Elba’s British accent as he talks to NPR’s Terry Gross about how he got the role of Stringer Bell. I can tell Terry is as big a fan of The Wire as I am.

Hi There.

Greetings to anyone who finds this blog(and wow congrats…you should look for DB Cooper next with your talents). I am a recently unemployed sales assistant/marketing assistant/promotions assistant/graphic designer who has way too much time on her hands and a bright shiny new laptop. Yes, my friends, it’s a dangerous combo. I honestly don’t have a plan for this blog. Maybe a little writing, maybe the latest entertainment gossip or just a whole post about how much I love The Wire. So let the games begin!
