Best night ever.

30rock

After coming home from Star Trek, which was 10 kinds of AWESOME…by the way is it weird I found Spock hotter than Kirk…do I have a thing for bowl haircuts…weird…anyway, so after Star Trek, I came home and watched the season finale of 30 Rock. They packed so much into one show I am going to have to watch it again. TV Squad has some of the best quotes from lastnight here.

The new episode is up at Hulu. Click here to start watching.

The Road trailer is live.

theroad

SciFi Wire has the new The Road trailer up. Check it out and see if you think they are doing the book justice. Hard to say. Alot more action, and the character of the wife has a much larger role. Looks pretty interesting though. Wire fans will catch a glimpse of Michael K. Williams(Omar) towards the end of the clip.

Top Model judge fired.

americas-next-top-model-cycle-12

Why can’t Miss Tyra keep a “former supermodel” spot on the judging panel filled for more than a year or two? First it was Janice, then Twiggy and now Paulina has been kicked to the curb. Too much competition for the diva I guess. Apparently Paulina was fired on her birthday. Real nice Tyra.

In happier ANTM news, the finale is tonight. Watch to see what insane final catwalk they devise for the remaining two models. This season was pretty dull, where were the meat bikini shoots or “look a spiders on my face” closeups?? My guess is the winner will be Allison, the one that looks like a Blythe doll and loves blood. Disturbing.

Animation at it’s best.

Ponyo_onesheet-thumb-330x489-17934

SciFi Wire has the newest images from Hayao Miyazaki’s latest, Ponyo, opening August 14th. If you’re not familiar with Miyazaki’s films, I see a Miyazaki film watching marathon in your near future. Some of my favorites are My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle and the amazing Spirited Away. I don’t like the dubbed in American voices and prefer watching the Japanese language version with the subtitles on. Here are some of my favorite images from his films:

Plants vs Zombies…again.

plants_vs_zombies_list

I have been playing Plants vs Zombies from PopCap games for a couple of days now and this game rocks. It is way too addictive, I thought I had only been playing a few minutes when I had been actually playing for almost two hours! The game is a bargain at only $20 and Steam has it for $10. This article explains the game much better than I ever could.

HBO picks up Treme.

david-simon-fix_jpg_595x325_crop_upscale_q85

I’m so excited about the news from TV Squad that HBO has picked up David Simon’s Treme. HBO has greenlit nine episodes of the drama starring Wire alums, Clarke Peters and Wendell Pierce, as well as Melissa Leo from Homicide. The show is about New Orleans musicians, post Hurrican Katrina. Can’t wait to hear the soundtrack that will go with the series.

I love Plants vs Zombies!

pvz2

Thanks to this review from Wired, I’ve now got an awesome new time waster called Plants vs Zombies. From Popcap games, here’s the description:

“A mob of fun-loving zombies is about to invade your home, and your only defense is an arsenal of 49 zombie-zapping plants. Use peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more to mulchify 26 types of zombies before they can reach your front door.

Each zombie has its own special skills, so you’ll need to think fast and plant faster to combat them all. But be careful how you use your limited supply of greens and seeds… as you battle the fun-dead, obstacles like a setting sun, creeping fog and a swimming pool add to the challenge. And with five game modes to dig into, the fun never dies!”

This game is really funny and completely addicting. Two hours blew by before I realized I had not charged my laptop enough and I got the black screen of death right when the Michael Jackson “Thriller” Zombie entered the screen. Frak. Sure, it’s not Left 4 Dead. There’s not much gore except for the rolling zombie heads but it’s not meant to be. Give it a try and I think you will be amazed at how much fun it is. It did seem to easy in the beginning, more like a kids game, but as you progress thru the different levels you realize it’s become a challenging game of strategy. Click here to try it out for FREE.

Rope of Silicon just reminded me that The Hunt for Gollum is now available for viewing online. If you haven’t heard of this film before, it’s an amazing independent fan film, adapted from elements of the appendices of The Lord of the Rings and follows Aragorn as he searches for Gollum. The best part is that they did this all for $3,000! I just finished watching it and was truly impressed by the quality of the production. View the complete movie for free in HD here.
