You know what my big plans are for the weekend? Cranking up the a/c, grabbing a nice cool drink and watching the entire 3rd season of Mad Men. Oh yeah, I know how to party. NY Magazine on the other hand, is celebrating the return of Mad Men with a film montage of Betty Draper’s fine parenting skills. Watch it here.
Buzzfeed has the 25 Best Pictures of Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks. You’re welcome.
A preview for the next episode of Mad Men is up at AMC. Click here to watch.
I was let down by last week’s premiere. I didn’t like the jump forward and would’ve liked to have seen more of the London takeover, along with Roger and Joan’s weddings. The show also felt a little sitcomy to me when Sal and Don flirt with the stewardesses and pretended to be accountants for the mob. Pete Campbell seems to be overly dramatic this season, he was a jerk last season, but this season he’s throwing tantrums like a little kid. I also find it hard to believe that someone like him would be promoted as fast as he has.
Overall, I found it kinda dull, I will blame it on AMC making me wait so long. If this episode was several episodes in I wouldn’t be complaining, but this was the premiere for crying out loud. I have higher standards.
I waited a very long time for Mad Men’s return, and now that I’ve seen the season premiere I’m feeling a little disappointed. There just wasn’t a whole lot going on. Don is still a womanizer, Pete has the maturity of a 6 year old and Peggy still wears a perpetual frown on her face but with better makeup. I’m going to have to mull this one over and get back to you all tomorrow.
The new season of Mad Men is so close, I can almost taste it. It tastes a little like an Old Fashioned. Until August 16th, here are a few things to keep you busy:
Check out Christina Hendricks new photos from her Esquire interview.
If you can’t live like Mad Men, you can at least drink like one.
Create a Mad Men avatar. I’ve had no luck creating mine, I think AMC hates me.
Meet the minor female characters of Mad Men, along with pretty pictures for all the men.
Sesame Street will do a parody of Mad Men on November 10th to mark their 40th anniversary. Me and my mom are currently creating The Wire, Sesame Street style, in our heads. Here’s our cast so far:
Big Bird: Prop Joe
Elmo: That bastard Kennard
Bert and Ernie: Carv and Herc
The Count: The Greek
Any ideas who should be Marlo? Stringer Bell?
I’m beginning to think AMC enjoys torturing Mad Men viewers. It’s not enough that they pushed the premiere date for season 3 to August 16th. Now they have released a “new” season 3 promo that shows nothing but clips from season 2. It’s obviously just an ad to plug the release of the DVD. You’re really making me cranky AMC.
