April is my new favorite month.

April is going to be a brilliant month for television.  Fringe returns on April 1st,  two weeks earlier than planned due to the demise of Past Life, the brand new adventures of Doctor Who with Matt Smith begins on April 17th and Treme debuts on April 11th. I think that should hold me until True Blood returns in June, don’t you think? Here are some links for you to enjoy:

New York Magazine has the new trailer for Treme.

BSC has a few promo pics from the new Fringe episode “Peter”.

Check out Doctor Who’s newest companion, Karen Gillian, in this photo spread for Grazia. Interesting hair do she’s got going on.

Treme premiere date announced.

Thanks to HBO I now have something to pull me thru the rest of winter. The premiere date has been set for David Simon’s Treme. Mark your calendars for April 11th and keep your fingers crossed that it’s as good as The Wire was. Here’s hoping.

TV Squad has a few more details about the series here.

HBO picks up Treme.

I’m so excited about the news from TV Squad that HBO has picked up David Simon’s Treme. HBO has greenlit nine episodes of the drama starring Wire alums, Clarke Peters and Wendell Pierce, as well as Melissa Leo from Homicide. The show is about New Orleans musicians, post Hurrican Katrina. Can’t wait to hear the soundtrack that will go with the series.

David Simon begins filming…

thewure_simon

David Simon has begun filming his latest, Treme, which takes place in New Orleans following Katrina. It won’t be picked up until HBO sees the pilot so keep your fingers crossed. He has lined up a stellar group of writers and cast for this project and I am really excited to see the stories they tell. Click here to read more about the series.

On a related note, if you want to listen to a masterpiece of music that truly sums up the emotions in New Orleans following the hurricane, buy Terence Blanchard’s, A Tale of God’s Will(A Requiem for Katrina). I can’t listen to “Funeral Dirge” without thinking back to the haunting images from Spike Lee’s, When the Levees Broke.
